Highland Lake is a beautiful lake in the Sullivan and Cheshire counties of New Hampshire. Concord is around 45 miles away.
The Manchester-Boston Regional Airport is under 60 miles away, and the Monadnock Community Hospital is under 40 miles away.
Highland Lake spans 697 acres, stretches for 6 miles, and has plenty of activities on the water.
The long stretch makes it a destination for boats of all kinds: speed boats, pontoons, fishing boats, kayaks, canoes, sailboats, or paddle boats. You will see lots of water skiing and tubing in the summer, snowmobiles, and snowshoeing in the winter.
Other popular activities are swimming, fishing, observing nature, and relaxing on the shore. Anglers looking to toss out a line can find smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, chain pickerel, brown bullhead, white perch, yellow perch, and black crappie.
The seaplane is an excellent sight to see. Occasionally residents catch one taking off or landing in the stretch of water.
The Highland Lake Marina is located at the end of Shedd Hill Road. It offers boat storage, docking, recreational merchandise, and has a diner attached.
Concord, the capital city of New Hampshire, has lots to offer residents of Highland Lake.
The top attraction is the independently owned Red River Theatre. This theatre offers screenings of independent films as well as classic movies.
Those more interested in live performances should head to Capitol Center for the Arts. There they will find ballet, country, rock, and Broadway performances.
Another attraction is the Mcauliffe-Shepard Discovery Center, named after Christina Mcauliffe and Alan Shepard. This museum features interactive indoor and outdoor exhibits as well as a planetarium.
Whether you are looking to buy a family home, a full-time retirement residence, or a waterfront property, Highland Lake is an excellent choice.
