On the Water Fun

Chocorua Lake spans 223 acres, leaving plenty of room for lake fun.

Popular activities on the water are swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. Outboard motors of any kind are prohibited, so grab your kayak or canoe!

Anglers looking to toss a line out will find brook trout, smallmouth bass, black bullhead, yellow perch, rainbow trout, and catfish.

Mount Chocorua (3,490 feet) dominates the views from the Narrows Bridge and the highway. Be sure to stop and take in the beauty!

There are public access points at a three-acre area known as the “Grove” at the south end and a 17-acre area known as the “Island” on the east side. There is also a “Tamworth Resident Only” area a quarter-mile north of the Island.

Concord, the capital city of New Hampshire, has lots to offer residents of Chocorua Lake.

The top attraction is the independently owned Red River Theatre. This theatre offers screenings of independent films as well as classic movies.

Those more interested in live performances should head to Capitol Center for the Arts. There they will find ballet, country, rock, and Broadway performances.

Another attraction is the Mcauliffe-Shepard Discovery Center, named after Christina Mcauliffe and Alan Shepard. This museum features interactive indoor and outdoor exhibits as well as a planetarium.
