Summer Haven Lake is part of the Fremont Lakes State Recreation Area, a state park in Eastern Nebraska with 20 sandpit lakes. The area is located along the Platte River just west of Fremont and is just a meager hour away from Nebraska’s largest city, Omaha.
It is 12 minutes from Methodist Fremont Health and a little over two and a half hours from Des Moines International Airport. There are a few smaller airports nearby such as the Lincoln Airport, which is an hour away.
There are grocery stores within 15 minutes from the lake like Hy-Vee, Baker’s, and ALDI. Residents can check out nearby restaurants like Runza Restaurant, Thai & Maki Sushi Restaurant, and DJ’s Bar & Grill for a nice dinner out.
Anglers can expect to reel in largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and channel catfish. Only three of the 20 lakes allow power boating, but all of them are open to non-motorized watercraft and electric trolling motors.
In addition, the state park offers numerous outdoor activities off the lake including picnicking and camping.

Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo is a zoo famous for its dedicated breeding of endangered species from around the globe. It includes many popular animals such as bears, giraffes, rhinos, and gorillas.
Football fans can drive the meager one hour to Memorial Stadium at the University of Nebraska, home of the Cornhuskers. The Cornhuskers compete in the NCAA Division I Big Ten Conference and have won five national championships.
