Swan Lake is a sparkling expanse in the picturesque Seeley-Swan Valley. Kalispell is just 40 miles north of the lake. The busy city is home to a variety of restaurants, shops, and retail stores.

It is also convenient for the Kalispell City Airport and Kalispell Regional Medical Center. Glacier Park International Airport is just a few minutes north of Kalispell.

Natural Scenery

Come to Swan Lake to get the authentic Montana experience. Situated in the mountains of the Flathead National Forest, it is an incredible getaway.

Swan Lake’s ultra-clear waters run eight miles long and a mile wide.

Its northern pike populations, kokanee salmon, and rainbow trout have made it greatly popular among anglers.

Many others enjoy boating, jet skiing, water skiing, kayaking, canoeing, and swimming on the lake.

Flourishing with Wildlife

On the southern end of the lake, the Swan River National Wildlife Refuge is home to a wide variety of wildlife.

It sees over 170 different migratory bird species and is also a designated nesting spot for bald eagles.

White-tailed deer are the most common animal spotted around the lake, but moose, elk, beaver, muskrats, bears, and owls also roam the area.

Outdoor Excursions

Just a short drive away, Wayfarers/Flathead State Park features a lake beach, boat ramp, fishing pier, campground, playground, and variety of nature trails.

The Flathead National Forest covers 2.4 million acres and includes trails for horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, and riding ATVs.
