Stockton Lake is a glorious, blue body of water on the western edge of the Ozark Mountains.

Small-town Stockton sits on the lake’s northern point. It is home to restaurants, grocery markets, schools, Stockton Family Medical Center, and more.

Springfield-Branson National Airport, Mercy Hospital, Missouri State University, and a list of attractions are in Springfield, about an hour south.

A Gorgeous Expanse

Stockton Lake covers 24,900 acres and has the shape of a “V.” The waters stretch across Cedar, Dade, and Polk Counties. Its shoreline of nearly 300 miles includes hidden coves, secluded beaches, and rocky bluffs.

Stockton Lake is not as widely known as other lakes of the state, so it is perfect for those who want a large recreational lake without tourist traffic.

All Sorts of Activities

Stockton Lake is famous for boating, water skiing, sailing, wakeboarding, fishing, swimming, and kayaking.

It has some of the best conditions for sailing and windsurfing in all of Minnesota. It is also the lake-of-choice for scuba divers, having visibility up to 25 feet.

Anglers know it as an excellent walleye fishery. It also holds healthy populations of largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, crappie, bluegill, and catfish.

Around the Lake

Stockton State Park offers boat rentals, 300 boat slips, a convenience store, sailing lessons, and the Crab Shack Eatery.

It has hiking and biking trails that wind about the lakeshore. Campers can choose from the Stockton State Park Campground and several others around the lake.
