Pomme De Terre Lake

In Proximity to Bolivar and Springfield

Pomme de Terre Lake is located 30 minutes from Bolivar and about an hour from Springfield.

Bolivar is convenient for typical city establishments like schools, banks, supermarkets, and restaurants. Head to Springfield for Mercy Hospital, Branson-Springfield National Airport, Battlefield Mall, or Missouri State University.

Peace and Quiet

The lake’s name, “Pomme de Terre,” means the “apple of the earth,” which reigns true with its unspoiled nature and host of wildlife.

Its dam was built at the meeting place of Lindley Creek and Pomme de Terre River. Now, its waters snake across nearly 8,000 acres and have over 100 miles of shoreline. The lake is 69 feet deep on average but can be as deep as 95 feet.

On the Water

The Quarry Point Public Use Area is on the side of the dam. Includes Harbor Marina, a boat ramp, a fishing pier, and a lake beach.

Residents can head to Hermitage Beach, Pittsburgh Beach, or one of the other several other swimming spots around the shore.

Boating, water skiing, tubing, fishing, kayaking, and canoeing are other hit activities. It is known for its populations of muskie, but it holds a variety of healthy fish.

Many marinas and campgrounds around the shore provide visitors with boat rentals, showers, restrooms, and more.

Pomme de Terre State Park

Pomme de Terre State Park features a web of hiking trails across the peninsulas, savannas, grasslands, and forests around the lake.

It is unique for its post oaks and chinquapin oaks that are over 200 years old. They are easy to pick out because they have grown short and wide.
