Lake Thunderhead is a beautiful private lake in Unionville, Missouri, next to the Iowa state line. The Wildflower Community and its amenities are on its eastern shore.

Putnam County Memorial Hospital, restaurants, shops, and hotels are in Unionville. It is within 150 miles of Kansas City or Des Moines, Iowa.

Natural Lake Scenery

This community lake covers 1,050 acres and boasts 34 miles of shoreline. It is 20 feet deep on average but can be as deep as 50 feet.

Homes are lonely located on one side of the lake, so waterside homes have views of natural wooded shores on the lake's opposite side.

Activities Galore

Lake Thunderhead is greatly popular for watersports. Lakers spend their time pontooning, water skiing, tubing, fishing, swimming, and more.

It is annually stocked with largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, crappie, and bluegill. Several sponsored fishing tournaments are held on the lake each year.

A large, pristine beach along with boat slips is mid-lake. The Lake Thunderhead Marina offers a restaurant and boating services.

A campground, 9-hole golf course, and two tennis courts are included in Lake Thunderhead's lakeside establishments.

Residents can see a variety of birds and wildlife around the lake. Common sightings include bald eagles, wild turkeys, ducks, and geese, as well as pheasants, quail, and whitetail deer.
