Trout Lake is located approximately 10 miles east of Grand Rapids off of Highway 169.
The town of Coleraine borders the north end of the lake, where there are typical city establishments along with schools. Grand Rapids boasts a greater list of conveniences, including the Grand Itasca Hospital and Itasca County Airport.
Past the town of Coleraine, houses are few and far between on Trout Lake. The combination of sparkling waters and tall, green trees makes for excellent views.
On the waters, people enjoy pontooning, motorboating, fishing, and swimming. Behind the boats, you will see people water skiing, tubing, and wakeboarding.
Cotton Beach is located on the north shore where people swim, suntan, and relax all day. It is also a great place to set out in a kayak or canoe.

A golfer will be happy to know that the Eagle Ridge Golf Course is on the western shore of Trout Lake. It is a well-maintained 18-hole course perfect for putting around.
The Mt. Itasca Winter Sports Center is nearby, where there are hills for skiing, snowboarding, or tubing, along with a ski jump and ice skating area.
In Grand Rapids, you can explore the Judy Garland Museum, Children’s Discovery Museum, Macrostie Art Center, and Historic Century School.
