Located in Beltrami County, Minnesota

Three Island Lake is a 729-acre lake located 10 miles north of Bemidji, Minnesota. Fargo, North Dakota, is 145 miles southwest, and Minneapolis is 249 miles south.

The closest location for emergency care is the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center, 12 miles south. Hector International Airport is 144 miles southwest.

Fun on the Water

Nestled in the Turtle River chain, this lake is often overlooked because many nearby lakes are larger. However, Three Island offers plenty in the way of quintessential lake fun!

Compared to its neighbors, development here is seemingly light. Residents will enjoy a quiet atmosphere out on the water. There are islands and a few miles of shoreline to explore by kayak or boat.

With water clarity exceeding 10 feet, swimming is another popular pastime. Before you head out onto the water remember to grab your rod and reel! Anglers can expect an excellent walleye lake — in size and population — as well as largemouth bass, northern pike, and various panfish.

For those thrill-seeking during the snowy months, take the short drive to Buena Vista Ski Area for downhill skiing or snowboarding. Tubing is also available on select days.
