Rainy Lake is an impressive expanse, boasting 228,000 acres of water and over 2,000 islands.

The surrounding forests are habited by moose, deer, wolves, bears, bald eagles, beavers, warblers, and many more native animals. Around the lake, you will see cranes, loons, and other waterfowl.

International Falls host the Annual International Falls Premier Bass Fishing Tournament on Rainy Lake and Rainy River. The tournament gives away $30,000 in prize money.

Voyageurs National Park

Rainy Lake is part of Voyageurs National Park--the only national park in the state. Across its 218,00 acres, there are hundreds of miles of trails for hiking and snowmobiling.

Around the forest, there are many hidden waterfalls and historic rock formations. It is also one of the top locations in the country for viewing the northern lights.
