Prairie Lake is located in Arbo Township (Itasca County), Minnesota, 16 minutes north of Grand Rapids and two hours away from Duluth.

There are a few smaller airfields nearby, but the closest major airport is Duluth International Airport which is, typically, just over an hour and a half away. Urgent care can be provided at Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital, 22 minutes away.
