800 Acres of Beauty

Sylvan Lake has two basins of water that together cover 803 acres. The waters can be as deep as 57 feet but are 18 feet deep on average. The forested shores feature more than just homes. There are also rental properties and the Kavanaugh Sylvan Lake Resort.

Sylvan Lake is traveled by powerboats, jet skis, pontoons, bass boats, kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards. Many have fun being pulled along the lake on skis and tubes or behind the boat on a wakeboard.

The lake is also a prime birdwatching location; its many surrounding trees are home to cardinals, goldfinches, woodpeckers, robins, blue jays, chickadees, sparrows, and more.

Anglers take advantage of Sylvan Lake year-round. Some say that ice fishing is more exciting when it is atop the ice.

Some of the most scenic golfing in the state can be done at The Legacy Courses at Cragun’s. Next to it is the Pine Beach East & West Courses and Madden Golf Course.

Next to Gull Lake, Mount Ski Gull offers zip-lining, nighttime hiking, downhill skiing, snowboarding, and tubing, along with its annual Paul Bunyan Extreme Race.

Brainerd also offers the Three Bear Waterpark, Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf, and Buffalo Hills Park.
