Little Johnson Lake

Little Johnson Lake is located in far northern Minnesota, near the Canadian border. For city trips, residents can visit International Falls or Ely.

This lake is 75 miles away from Falls International Airport and 78 miles away from Falls Memorial Hospital.

Life on the Water

Little Johnson Lake is 566 acres in size with a maximum depth of 28 feet. The lake contains 10.6 miles of shoreline, with plenty of space for recreation and relaxation.

The lake is popular for boating, fishing, swimming, and watersports. Take a stroll around the lake, or have a picnic on the shore. There are no public access points, but there is one on the southern side of the connected Johnson Lake.

Anglers can find bluegill, lake whitefish, northern pike, northern sunfish, pumpkinseed, rock bass, smallmouth bass, walleye, yellow perch, white sucker, and golden shiner.

Around the Area

Voyageurs National Park features multiple lakes and islands plus campsites, hiking trails, and ranger-led guided tours.

Kabetogama State Forest offers trails for hiking, skiing, snowmobiling, and ATV vehicles, plus boating and fishing.

Visit Ely

Those looking for fun off of the water can discover everything Ely has to offer.

One popular attraction is Kawishiwi Falls Trail, where visitors can hike through the woods and relax in nature.
