Minnesota
The Northern Metro Area is considered a relatively large market for lake homes and lake lots in Minnesota.
There are typically around 260 lake homes for sale in the Northern Metro Area at any given time. The area will usually have around 60 or so lake lots and land for sale.
Ordinarily, there are 11 lake homes for sale on each lake in the Northern Metro Area, and 2 lots and land parcels.
Western Anoka County transitions from dense development in the communities of Coon Rapids and Anoka to a very rural atmosphere just a few miles to the north.
Andover and Ramsey both have a wide variety of well-designed newer housing developments, some of them with large wooded lots that are difficult to find this close to Minneapolis and St. Paul.
In the southern reaches of the county, most of the waterfront parcels are along either the Mississippi River or the Rum River.
Neighborhoods along the Mississippi tend to be of an older vintage, although you will find a reasonable supply of newly built and recently updated river homes. Many of them have an interesting uniqueness due to their custom waterfront designs, which were often built with a high level of quality.
Along the Rum River, which traverses the entire length of the county from St. Francis to Anoka, you will begin to come across larger riverfront tracts of land and many newer homes. Some of these neighborhoods have large open lawns, and others are hidden by forested surroundings.
The main recreational lake in the area is Lake George at about 600 acres and good water clarity. Once mainly all cabins, the lake is beginning a slow transition into newer homes.
However, because of some of the lot size limitations, and its location in the northern part of the county, many areas around the lake will most likely retain their makeup of generally smaller structures for some time to come. Because of that, it makes for a great place to have a close-in cabin for those with rushed schedules and limited time.
Whether you are looking to buy a family home, a full-time retirement residence, or waterfront property, Western Anoka County is an excellent choice.
