Nest Lake covers 1,007 acres and has over 11 miles of shoreline. It feeds into the Little Crow River and flows out to Green Lake via an outlet dam on its northeastern branch.

It is 15 feet deep on average and has a maximum depth of 40 feet. The dark waters make excellent conditions for fishing.

Anglers can expect to catch smallmouth bass, northern pike, black crappie, walleye, yellow perch, and black bullhead. Sunny summer days include pontooning, water skiing, tubing, swimming, kayaking, and canoeing.

When winter comes around, residents enjoy snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and ice fishing. Kandiyohi County offers over 200 miles of snowmobiling trails.
