Leech Lake lies almost entirely within the Chippewa National Forest. Its rich and scenic up-north ambiance has made it a place that people revisit time and time.

There are several beaches around Leech Lake where its crystalline waters combine with clean sands. Here you can spend the day sunning, swimming, and socializing.

Anglers, kayakers, canoers, and paddleboarders enjoy slipping off to its small bays where traffic is much lighter so they can enjoy the beauty of nature.

Less than a mile south of Leech Lake, Tenmile Lake is another clearwater paradise. Its shoreline stands tall with trees and blooms in wildflowers.

The Leech Lake Area spans into the 667,000 acres of the Chippewa National Forest. The park features the nation’s second-largest population of bald eagles.

The forest is home to hundreds of miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, snowmobiling, and horseback riding. Along your journey, you can explore a multitude of historical and archaeological sites.

Leech Lake is known as one of the best walleye lakes in the state. In the winter, ice fishing is its most popular activity. Ice skaters and snowmobilers also join the anglers.

Starting in October, duck hunters come to Leech Lake for divers, ringers, and puddle ducks.

Anyone with a four-wheeler, side by side, or buggy will be thrilled to know that the Soo Line North ATV Trail passes through the area. It is a relatively smooth path with swift turns.

Attractions in Walker

One of Walker’s most popular attractions is the Northern Lights Casino. Others come to the city for unique dishes, antique finds, and boutiques.

Some of its annual events include Walker Bay Day, the 4th of July Festival, Ethnic Fest, Leech Lake Walleye Tournament, Moondance Jammin Country Music Fest, and the Farmer’s Crafter’s Market.
