A Fun Time in Eastern Alexandria

Lake Victoria is the place to go for water recreation while within the limits of the city.

Alexandria is west of the lake, where you can enjoy fine dining, shopping, and attractions. Other city amenities include the Alexandria School System, hotels, pharmacies, and the Douglas County Hospital.

Over 400 Acres of Bliss

The waters of Lake Victoria cover 417 acres and mimic the shape of a horseshoe. The waters have an average depth of 32 feet but can be as deep as 60 feet.

Its seven-mile shoreline is home to several homes and two resorts, but tall, majestic trees still stand all around the lake.

Activities on Lake Victoria

Pontooning, speed boating, jet skiing, tubing, and wakeboarding are popular activities for thrill-seekers. Others have a relaxing time kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, or swimming.

Anglers must take advantage of its healthy populations of largemouth bass and walleye along with northern pike, perch, and bullhead.

Around the eastern end of the lake, you are likely to spot various wildlife, including ducks, beavers, squirrels, lakeside deer, or birds sitting in the trees.

You can also hike or bike west on the central lakes trail to explore Alexandria's city and its many lakes.

City Attractions

Alexandria’s summer events include Lagerfest, Father’s Day Brew, Osakis Town Festival, MN Made Summer Market, 4th of July Party, Crazy Days in Alexandria, and the Douglas County Fair.

Fall brings corn mazes, haunted houses, downtown trick-or-treating, and the Turkey Day 5K. Christmas time includes the annual Christmas Tree Lighting, light shows, and the Jingle Bells Telethon.
