Lake Le Homme Dieu sits between Lake Carlos and Lake Geneva in eastern Alexandria.

The city has a selection of shops, restaurants, hotels, and attractions. Douglas County Hospital or the Alexandria Aviation School are there as well. The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is approximately 150 miles away.

Featuring 1,800 Acres of Water

The sparkling waters of Lake Le Homme Dieu cover 1,800 acres and reach depths of 85 feet.

There is a Public Lake Beach on the north and south shore where residents and visitors flock to hot summer days. Boaters and anglers can use the public access point on the east shore of the lake.

Powerboating, pontooning, water skiing, jet skiing, sailing, and paddleboarding are just some of the activities happening at Lake Le Homme Dieu.

Fishing and Other Activities

The Alexandria Chain of Lakes is known for holding well-sized largemouth bass and walleye. Lake Le Homme Dieu is also known for catches of northern pike and bluegill.

Carlos Creek Winery, known as the best in the state, is just up the lake's road. The 160-acre winery offers tours, tastings, live music, markets, and serves as an event venue.

Put your hiking shoes on and get ready for a fun day at Lake Carlos State Park; the park offers hiking/biking trails, a lake beach, boat ramps, fishing piers, picnic tables, and campgrounds.

The park also designates lands for hunting throughout the different seasons. During winter, people are welcome to snowmobile, cross-country ski, or snowshoe at the park.

Exciting Events

Alexandria's summer events include Broadway's Party in the Street, Awake the Lakes Ribfest, and the 4th of July with boat parades, firework shows, and cookoffs.

Later in the year, there is the Alexandria Annual Fair, Lights and Ice Show, and Christmas Tree Lighting.
