Lake Jessie - Alexandria Twp

East of Downtown Alexandria

Lake Jessie is a slim body of water featuring 105 acres on the eastern end of Alexandria. Next to Alexandria, lake visitors have easy access to restaurants, shops, attractions, and the Douglas County Hospital.

A Peaceful Environment

It is easy to relax at Lake Jessie, where tranquil waters and towering trees are everywhere you look.

The waters are most enjoyed for fishing; anglers are attracted to the lake’s largemouth bass and walleye populations, but a variety of other fish can be caught here.

Others enjoy paddling them in kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards. Shaded areas around the shore are excellent for hammocking, picnicking, or reading a book.

More Opportunities for Fun

Alexandria is known for its many recreational lakes; some of its largest include Lake Ida, Lake Miltona, or Lake Carlos.

Lake Le Homme Dieu Beach, located off Highway 29, is just minutes away. There you have sandy shores for swimming, tanning, or picnicking.

A golfer can take advantage of Geneva Golf Club’s three-course setup. The lush greens feature sand bunkers, water features, and more.

Events in Alexandria

Alexandria’s Broadway’s Party in the Street celebrates summer with live music, shopping, a beer garden, and ice cream.

In late June, the city hosts the annual Awake the Lakes - Ribfest. This fun-filled event includes fireworks, live music, and of course, great food.

For the 4th of July, many of Alexandria’s Lakes host boat parades and firework displays. The most famous is the Lake Darling Firework Show that happens every year.

Other events include New Years’ Eve bashes, the Alexandria Annual Fair, Ice and Lights, Christmas tree lighting, and more.
