Lake Irene sits next to Lake Miltona in Douglas County, Minnesota. Alexandria is just 15 miles south of the lake, where you will find hotels, restaurants, and shopping malls along with Douglas County Hospital.
Lake Irene covers 640 acres and features four miles of shoreline. With a maximum depth of 44 feet, the lake upholds a healthy population of largemouth bass, crappie, walleye, and bluegill.
Two public boat ramps give visitors access to the lake. While it is a popular location, Lake Ida remains a laid-back environment.
Powerboating, water skiing, tubing, sailing, fishing, and paddleboarding all happen on Lake Irene. Kayaking and canoeing are popular activities during the week when the waters are less trafficked.

Just across from Lake Irene, Lake Miltona boasts nearly 6,000 acres of water. It is known for its fishing opportunities but also hosts any lake activity you can imagine.
Miltona Golf Club is an excellent place for a round of golf, or travel on to Lake Carlos State Park for hiking, hunting, and more.
Viking Plaza Mall, Casey’s Amusement Park, Midway 9 Theater, Alexandria Escape Room, Carlos Creek Winery, or the Runestone Museum are fun outings in the city.
Alexandria’s Broadway’s Party in the Street celebrates summer with live music, shopping, a beer garden, and ice cream.
In late June, the city hosts the annual Awake the Lakes - Ribfest. This fun-filled event includes fireworks, live music, and of course, great food.
Just outside of Alexandria, Lake Irene is the perfect place for a family home or retirement residence without being far from city establishments.
