Helgeson Lake has a footprint of 113 acres, offering plenty of space for recreation and relaxation.

Activities offered are boating, canoeing, kayaking, and swimming, and sunbathing at the beach. With no public access, residents can enjoy a private paradise.

Fishing is excellent in this area. Helgeson Lake and the surrounding lakes have a variety of species, but they are best known for rainbow trout and muskellunge. Grass Lake, adjacent to the main campground, is a panfish angler favorite.

Maplewood State Park offers hikers and bikers nearly 30 miles of trails, five miles of scenic driving, horseback trails, snowmobile trails, and cross-country ski trails. The park also allows hunting during appropriate seasons.

There are four different golf courses available within 10 to 20 minutes from Helgeson Lake for golfers. These courses include the Birchwood Golf Course, Wildflower Golf Course, Green Valley Golf Course, and Lida Green Golf Course.
