Life on the Water

Long Lake spans 400 acres of incredibly blue water, and on the north end is the Cheboygan county area. The lake is long, deep, and perfect for fishing, boating, and swimming. The temperate water allows visitors to enjoy many different activities year-round.

Anglers can expect to catch walleye, northern pike, bluegill, smallmouth bass, and sunfish, among others. Local and state fishing regulations apply.

Explore the Inland Waterway, which has over 40 miles of water to explore, from lakes to rivers. Use the boat all day and along the way stop at some of the seven state parks, explore some of the many islands, or see some of the lighthouses.

While you’re near the coasts of one of the Great Lakes, tour some lighthouses. The guided tours guide people through the history of the lighthouse dating back to the 1880s and show what it was like to be a lighthouse keeper. You also get to see some great views!

If you’re in the mood for a cruise, check out a ferry boat that takes visitors to and from Mackinaw Island.

Want to hike? Check out the 62-mile North Central State Trail or the 71-mile North Eastern State Trail. The trails are used for hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and snowmobiling.

Need to work on your swing? Cheboygan Golf and Country Club is an 18-hole public course that has beautiful sweeping greens. Mullett Lake Country Club is a semi-private course just off the banks of Mullett Lake.
