Chain Lake

Located in Mackinac County, Michigan

Chain Lake is a 324-acre lake located in Mackinac County, right outside St. Ignace, Michigan. It is five hours north of Detroit and 30 minutes north of Cheboygan, Michigan.

Mackinac Island Straights is the closest location for urgent care, three miles north. The Mackinac County Airport is five miles north.

Residents heading into town can visit the Mackinaw Crossings Mall and a variety of local restaurants, such as Woods Restaurant, BC Pizza, and The Galley.

Fun on the Lake

There is plenty to entertain residents on Chain Lake! A boat launch is available off Cheeseman Road for those looking to take their craft on the water.

Kayaking and canoeing are popular here as well, as the natural wooded setting of the lake makes for a beautiful morning trip. Before you head out on the water, don't forget to grab a rod and reel!

Common species on this lake are northern pike, rock bass, sunfish, and yellow perch.

Visit St. Ignace

St. Ignace is a vibrant city with a rich history dating back thousands of years! The area was inhabited long before European fur traders came to the area.

Visit the Museum of Ojibwa Culture to learn more about the history of the area. The museum chronicles the Native inhabitants through the time when the Europeans and Natives intersected to create a bustling fur trading hub.

Head to the Straits State Park to take in views of the Mackinac Bridge or enjoy a picnic on a nice day. After your day of exploring, check out local restaurants like Bentley’s B-M-L Cafe, Original Murdick's Fudge & Murdick's Fudge Kitchen, and the Village Inn of St. Ignace.
