  • Interesting facts: In 1873 an effort was made to create a channel between Crystal Lake and Lake Michigan but, Crystal Lakes water level was higher than Lake Michigan so when the channel was opened the water level of Crystal Lake dropped about 20 feet, even though creating the channel was a fail, lowering the lake uncovered sandy beaches that are still used today.
