About Saddleback Lake

Located in the Rangeley Lakes Region

Saddleback Lake is in the Mountainous Region of western Maine. Surrounded by miles of wilderness, you will have the feeling of seclusion you have been longing for.

Small-town Rangeley is just a few miles west where there are restaurants, inns, the Rangely Family Medical Center, and other conveniences.

The major city of Portland is approximately 120 miles south of Saddleback. The city is home to the Portland International Jetport, Maine Medical Center, and endless restaurants and shops.

Boating and Fishing

Quaint and quiet Saddleback Lake covers 358 acres and has a maximum depth of 14 feet. The lake’s outlet starts the south branch of the Dead River flowing north.

Summer at Saddleback Lake includes kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. Kayakers and canoers fall in love with the lake’s still waters while anglers chase after the large trout populations.

The Area’s Best Attractions

Saddleback Mountain is the star of the land; the mountain is the third-largest in the state with the eighth-highest peak.

“Saddleback the Horn” is the mountain’s famous peak, and a seven-mile trail will take you up the mountain. At the extreme, you can enjoy a 360-degree view, including the beautiful range of lakes.

The mountain is known for more than just hiking; it is also home to Maine’s most favorable ski resorts. On the north side of the mountain, the resort houses a beautiful lodge, numerous ski trails, a high-tech lift, and plenty of snow machines if needed.

To boat the large waters of Rangeley Lake, head to Rangeley Lake State Park where there are boat launches and boat slips.
