Upper Richardson Lake and Lower Richardson Lake combine to form Richardson Lake, a reservoir in Richardsontown, Maine Township C, and Magalloway Plantation, Maine.

The lakes aren't far from the Maine-New Hampshire border, and Augusta is under 100 miles away.

The Augusta State Airport is around 120 miles away, and the Portland International Jetport is under 150 miles away. There are two hospitals under 50 miles away, the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital and the Androscoggin Valley Hospital.

For your shopping needs, there are several stores in the nearby town of Rumford. For a bigger shopping experience, make the drive to Augusta and visit The Marketplace at Augusta.

Life on Richardson Lake

Richardson Lakes is considered one of Maine’s “hidden gems.”

Both parts of the lake are excellent spots for boating, canoeing, kayaking, camping, picnicking, and fishing. There are public boat launches at the north end of the upper lake and the south end of the lower lake.

Anglers looking to toss out a line can find landlocked salmon, lake trout, brook trout, rainbow smelt, yellow perch, lake chub, golden shiner, common shiner, redbelly dace, finescale dace, fathead minnow, creek chub, fallfish, pearl dace, longnose sucker, white sucker, hornpout, slimy sculpin, and landlocked alewife.

There are also small islands and sandy beaches, creating the perfect opportunity to relax and enjoy the scenery.

Explore Augusta

Augusta is the state capital and a perfect spot for a daycation in the city.

Fort Western is home to the country’s oldest wooden garrison building, which was built in 1754. Old Fort Western is a living history museum offering tours, hands-on activities, and unique interactive experiences involving the history of New England during the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries.
