A great draw is Old Port. This neighborhood has cobblestone roads and still features some original buildings from the 19th century. With great shopping and only steps away from the wharf, which brings in some of the best seafood in the world, Old Port is a must-visit destination.
Consider going on one of Portland’s many brewery tours, or visit the Portland Museum of Art. Featuring artists such as Andy Warhol and Claude Monet, this museum’s website states that with more than 18,000 pieces, it would take visitors almost 10 years to see everything in the museum.
Built-in 1807 the Portland Observatory is the country’s last remaining maritime signal tower. At a height of 86 feet, the observatory offers great views of the coastline and the city.
