Located in the foothills of West Kennebago Mountain, Maine, Little Kennebago Lake is a beautiful and secluded environment where you have full enjoyment of the outdoors.

It is approximately 20 miles from the town of Rangeley, home of restaurants, shops, and schools.

The Augusta State Airport is around 100 miles away, and the Rumford Hospital is around 60 miles away.

Basin on the Kennebago River

Little Kennebago Lake spans 165 acres and reaches depths of 56 feet. Its main inlet/outlet is the Kennebago River.

Kennebago Lake is located south of the lake and features 1,700 acres of water with a maximum depth of 116 acres.

Superb Fly Fishing

Kennebago Lake and the Kennebago River are the largest water bodies located east of the Mississippi designated as fly fishing only.

The clear waters hold large populations of native brook trout, landlocked salmon, and brown trout. Native brook trout measuring 10 to 14 inches are regularly caught throughout the year.

The southern section of the Kennebago River has around 30 pools that sustain trout and salmon.

Enjoying the Outdoors

Little Kennebago’s quiet waters are perfect for kayaking or canoeing. West Kennebago Mountain looms in the distance, creating incredible views.

The West Kennebago Mountain Trailhead is reached by driving a few miles of dirt roads. After that, the trail winds approximately two miles (on foot) to the mountain’s summit.

For a more relaxed experience, try driving the Rangeley Lakes National Scenic Byway or playing a round of golf at Mingo Springs Golf Course.

Explore Augusta

There are many attractions to visit in Augusta, the state's capital. It's around 100 miles away, perfect for a weekend getaway to the city.

Fort Western is home to the country’s oldest wooden garrison building, which was built in 1754. Old Fort Western is a living history museum offering tours, hands-on activities, and unique interactive experiences involving the history of New England during the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries.

For outdoor enthusiasts, visit Viles Arboretum, a park with six miles of trails, over 200 species of trees to observe, and wildlife all on this 224-acre garden.

Golf enthusiasts should check out Belgrade Lakes Golf Club, an 18 hole course considered one of the top courses in Maine and New England. It includes fabulous greens and fairways and beautiful scenes of nature.
