The northern basin of the lake is most famous for fishing. Its shallower waters hold significant populations of bass, perch, and pickerel.
You can make catches of coldwater fish like brook trout, brown trout, or landlocked salmon on the southern basin of the lake. This area is also popular for boating and swimming.
Maranacook Lake and the surrounding area entertains ice skating, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and other winter activities during the winter.
