Chesuncook Lake is a reservoir in Northwest Piscataquis, Maine, under 125 miles from Bangor. In 1916, the original lake was enlarged by the Ripogenus Dam to include Ripogenus Lake, Caribou Lake, and Moose Pond.

The Bangor International Airport is around 120 miles away, and the Millinocket Regional Hospital is 42 miles away.

As Maine’s third-largest lake, Chesuncook Lake covers above 25,000 acres and is approximately 22 miles long. It is also the starting point for whitewater rafting on the Penobscot River.

Popular activities on the lake include boating, kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, swimming, fishing, and relaxing on the shore. The primary boat access to the lake is off Golden Road that connects Greenville and Moosehead.
