Located in Orland, Alamoosook Lake is one of the many beautiful lakes in Maine's Downeast and Acadia region. The conveniences of Bucksport are less than five miles west along Acadia Highway. These include Hannaford Supermarket, restaurants, hotels, and the Bucksport School System.

Bangor is just 20 miles north, home to the Bangor International Airport, Northern Light Eastern Maine Hospital, and a selection of restaurants and shops.

Lake of 1,000 Acres

Alamoosook Lake spans 1,000 acres with a maximum depth of 28 feet and an average depth of 16 feet. Fall is a dreamy time to be at the lake because its nine miles of shoreline go ablaze with autumn colors.

That's not all to see at Alamoosook Lake. It is also a habitat for many animals, including loons, ospreys, deer, cormorants, otters, and more.

An Excellent Fishery

Anglers and nature enthusiasts are drawn to the Craig Brook Fish Hatchery, located on the northeastern shore and over 130 years old. The hatchery is home to indoor museums, displays, and restrooms with a fishing dock and boat launch on the lake.

Anglers are always pleased with the lake's healthy stock of bass, trout, pickerel, and salmon. Ice skating and ice fishing are popular activities on the lake when it is frozen.

Multiple hiking trails wind around the lake that is also used for snowmobiling and snowshoeing in the winter.

Acadia National Park is a must-see location just 30 miles from Alamoosook Lake. The park features Cadillac Mountain and stunning ocean views, hiking trails, and ski trails that wind about the park's 47,000 acres.
