Calcasieu Lake isn't your usual fishing destination. The water is mostly a salt lake, with water streaming directly from the Gulf of Mexico. This makes the aquatic life found in this lake a variety of salt-life species, including red drum, spotted sea trout, flounder, and different shrimp species. Anglers have commonly reported catching speckled trout that are seven pounds or more.
Boating and More
Given Calcasieu Lake's gigantic size, it is perfect for boating. All types of watercraft are permitted on this lake. Watersports such as water skiing, wakeboarding, canoeing, and kayaking are also popular activities to be enjoyed on this lake. You can even take a swim in the warm water if you are looking to relax.
