East Okoboji Lake is located in Dickinson County in the state of Indiana. It is a large lake coming in at over 1,800 acres and a maximum depth of 21 feet. Though it is more shallow and narrow, it is known as the third largest of Iowa's Great Lakes.

East Okoboji Lake is connected to its neighbor, West Okoboji Lake. Big Spirit Lake is just across the road from East Okoboji.

You are just a few miles south of the Minnesota state border, and you can be in Minneapolis in just a three-hour drive.

Fishing and Amenities

Fishing on East Okoboji Lake is extremely popular. Anglers can expect to hook black bullhead, black crappie, bluegill, channel catfish, largemouth bass, muskellunge, northern pike, smallmouth bass, walleye, white bass, yellow bass, yellow bullhead, and yellow perch. The lake is stocked regularly with walleye, channel catfish, and occasionally muskellunge.

Boating, swimming, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and more water sports can be enjoyed on East Okoboji Lake. There are no motoring restrictions.

You can access several amenities on the lake, including a pier, boat rentals, picnic areas, a beach, walking trails, playgrounds, camping areas, and a hard surface boat ramp. With it being more shallow and narrow, it's a real hotspot for canoeing and kayaking.

Of course, you can always cruise on over to West Okoboji Lake and enjoy the waters there.

Surrounding Recreation

The Spring Run State Game Management Area sits on the eastern shoreline of East Okoboji Lake. Also sitting on East Okoboji Lake is the Upper Gar Lake State Game Management Area. Both areas make an excellent stop for a midday picnic by the lake or just a quick walk through nature.

You also have the Brooks Golf Course near the intersection of East and West Okoboji Lake. This course is more extensive, with 27 holes on a smooth, picturesque green.
