Painted Hills is an unincorporated community in Jackson Township in Morgan County, Indiana. This community is conveniently located near Interstate 69 and the city of Indianapolis.

Painted Hills Lake is the perfect spot for lovers of nature and outdoor recreation. Just south of the community are the Morgan-Monroe State Forest, Yellowwood State Forest, and Brown County State Park.

The closest of the three parks in Morgan-Monroe State Forest encompasses more than 24,000 acres of lush hardwoods. Primitive camping grounds, lodges, three lakes, fishing, gold panning, hunting, picnicking, and many different trails are available to visitors. Similar amenities are available in the other two parks.
