Lake Eleanor can be found near Deerfield, Illinois, just 30 miles from Chicago.

This county has a population of over 700,000 people and is famous as a great spot to film movies. Lake County hosted classics such as "Batman Begins" and "Ferris Bueller’s Day Off."

The closest major airport is O’Hare International and is just 18 minutes away. Urgent care can be provided at Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital, 15 minutes away.

Despite its size, Eleanor is still able to offer great fishing. Game fish are “catch and release” regardless of size, but anglers are asked to not release carp and bullhead back into the lake.

Gas-powered watercraft of any kind are not allowed at any time on the lake, so break out those canoes and kayaks! Electric-powered boats such as trolling motors are allowed if they don't produce a wake greater than a non-powered boat would.

Golfers have a couple of nearby options such as Ravinia Green Country Club, Par-King Skill Golf, and Briarwood Country Club.

One of the top attractions is Navy Pier which offers tons of rides, including a Ferris wheel that gives a beautiful view of Lake Michigan and the rest of the city. There is plenty of shopping around the pier and many different options for food.

Nature-lovers should make the trek to Illinois Beach State Park. Illinois Beach is the only remaining beach ridge shoreline in the state. This park consists of 4,160 acres of dunes and forests and offers swimming, boating, picnicking, hiking, fishing, and camping.

Chain O’Lakes State Park is another beautiful state park that offers hiking, picnicking, and camping. It is a bit smaller than Illinois Beach State Park, but between these two every outdoorsman and woman should be pleased with their options to explore nature.
