About Iroquois Lake

Iroquois County, Illinois

Lake Iroquois is a 76-acre boating and fishing lake that is a part of a private residential subdivision of the same name in Loda, Illinois. It is accompanied by a 7-acre fishing-only lake and is 12 minutes from Paxton in East Central Illinois.

The lake is due north of a larger, also private body of water named Bayles Lake.

The Gibson Area Hospital is 22 minutes away from the lake and the O’Hare International Airport is two hours away. There is an IGA Foodliner, a popular supermarket, in Paxton just 12 minutes away.

The lake is a human-made reservoir completed in 1968. Today, over 240 homes are surrounding it, ripe for lake-loving homeowners!

Fishing

Lake Iroquois is stocked with walleye, muskie, channel catfish, crappie, bass, and bluegill and even hosts children’s fishing derby and LIA Bass Club events during the summer. There is a marina on the lake with a concrete boat launch and docks for boaters.

In the middle of the lake, sits an island with a dock and picnic table as well as a charcoal grill, perfect for a family picnic on a beautiful day.

Lake Amenities

Lake Iroquois offers several amenities included in its two state-of-the-art parks.

The Emmett Behrens Park has a swimming pool with a diving board and pool house, a playground, tennis courts, hiking trails, and a baseball field.

The Norma Matson Beach is a sand beach for swimming with a water slide, volleyball court, and covered picnic area.

Dining

Hungry Lake Iroquois residents can make the short trip to Murdock’s Place, a restaurant and bar that’s a favorite among locals in Loda.

Murdock’s serves a variety of American food including burgers, chicken, shrimp, and wings. They often offer specials, making it also a paragon for bargain-hunters.

Education Galore

Three private schools are in the area: St. John Lutheran School, Christ Lutheran High School, and the Heritage Prep Academy.

However, there are also quality public schools that are part of the Paxton-Buckley-Loda (PBL) School District, one of the best school districts in the state. PBL is renowned for its high level of academic achievement and successful athletic programs.

Golfing
