Located in Mundelein in Illinois, Countryside Lake is a human-made body of water that sits inside a private neighborhood. The 120-acre lake was created in 1926 after a dam was built to block the stream from Lake County. Countryside Lake is relatively shallow, with a maximum depth of only 10 feet.

Recreation on the Lake

Due to its shallow waters and smaller size, Countryside Lake only allows boats with 15 horsepower or less. This is to help keep the shoreline intact and preserve the beautiful waters of this residential lake.

The beach even has a playground, horseshoes, and boat docks if you want to make a quick stop after a day on the water.

Due to its shallow waters, fishers can easily toss a line in from the shore. Anglers have reported catching largemouth bass, northern pike, and black crappie in Countryside Lake. Some other fish that you might spot are muskellunge, walleye, perch, bluegill, grass carp, sunfish, and catfish.

Six Flags Great America is located just a few miles from Countryside Lake. This new amusement park has seventeen roller coasters, as well as a 20-acre water park. There are several larger lakes in the areas surrounding Countryside Lake. The popular Chain O’ Lakes is the busiest inland recreational waterway per acre in the United States.
