Located a few miles south of Peoria, Illinois, Heritage Lake sits in Tazewell County. This private, human-made 85-acre lake was once named Maraldo Lake. This lake offers four miles of beautiful shoreline for residents to enjoy.

Sailing, Fishing, and More

Due to its smaller size, only small boats powered by electric motors, sailboats, paddleboats, rowboats, kayaks, and canoes can be used on Heritage Lake.

Fishing is thoroughly enjoyed by anglers here because it is easy to fish the shoreline or hop in a kayak to try deeper waters. Northern pike, tiger muskie, walleye, channel catfish, several varieties of bass, white crappie, black crappie, green sunfish, and bluegill challenge anglers' skill.

Sandy beaches line the shore and make it easier for residents to take a quick swim. Volleyball courts, a park, a covered pavilion, and tables are available for residents to gather and enjoy.

The Heritage Lake Campground is open to Heritage Lake Association members and guests only. This makes it the perfect, private camping spot for a quick getaway right by your home.

Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy the Mackinaw River State Fish and Wildlife Area with its 1,448 acres of tree-lined hills, open meadows, ponds, and river access. This area is primarily used for hunting, but fishing and canoeing are other popular recreational activities.
