Chain O'Lakes - Bluff Lake

Just below the Wisconsin state border sits Bluff Lake. Bluff Lake is one of the fifteen lakes that comprise the Chain O'Lakes waterway system. The Chain is reported to be the busiest inland recreational waterway per acre in the United States.

Considered a part of the Chicagoland tourism region, Bluff Lake is just 40 miles northwest of the windy city. It is one of the smaller lakes in the Chain O'Lakes system, with a surface area of 86 acres. Its smaller size makes it one of the lesser trafficked lakes in the region, making it the perfect spot for residents to buy a quiet getaway.

Due to its more peaceful atmosphere, Bluff Lake is a popular spot for fishing in the Chain O'Lakes region. This lake is hailed as one of the area's best-kept secrets, and anglers can expect to find yellow bass, bluegill, channel catfish, pumpkinseed sunfish, yellow perch, carp, white crappie, and walleye.

Due to its gravel bottom, large quantities of white bass, largemouth bass, panfish, and stripers are attracted to Bluff Lake.

Four significant trails around Bluff Lake are accessible to everyone. Pike Marsh North is a flat, quarter-mile trail designed for the physically disabled.

Approximately 200 bird species have been spotted throughout the area, full of wildflowers during the spring, summer, and fall.
