Lake Horton

Located South of Atlanta

Lake Horton is located in Fayette County, Georgia, just 40 miles from Atlanta. It is 780 acres with a shoreline of about 13 miles. It is one of three water supply reservoirs located in Fayette County.

On the Water

Fishing is frequently practiced on Lake Horton. Here you can catch catfish, bass, and bream. You can fish from the bank or from a boat.

Lake Horton is a water supply reservoir whose primary purpose is to make drinking water, so gas boats must be lifted, so they are not touching the water. Hydrocarbon and alcohol-fueled boats are prohibited as well as any water sports. You can however use paddle boats such as kayaks and canoes, as well as sailboats and electric boats. There is a boat ramp for boats to be launched into Lake Horton.

Swimming and any other form of bodily contact are not allowed in Lake Horton. Also, people without a Fayette County tag must pay to park. Lake Horton is perfect for those who love a peaceful stroll through nature.
