But, the best fishing is south of St. Augustine, where Silver Lake is located. Well worn fishermen state that this area is superb for trout and redfish, flounder, sheepshead, and black drum.

Perfect for watching the sunrise or walking with the family, Silver Lake Park sits right on the Matanzas River. The river encompasses 46 acres of wetlands, this area is safe from development and helps preserve Florida’s natural habitats.

The park has a jogging and exercise trail complete with exercise stations and equipment along the way. There is also a bike and pedestrian trail that winds through the southern portion of the park. Along with the provided paths, there is a small playground, pavilions, benches, a pier, picnic tables, and a canoe launch.
