About Maria Sanchez Lake

In the Suburbs of St. Augustine

Maria Sanchez Lake is a unique area just south of historic St. Augustine. It is located where the Matanzas River meets the Atlantic Ocean in St. Johns County. This lake is smaller in size but offers its residents the perfect view.

Recreational Activities

Due to its proximity to St. Augustine, there are endless possibilities for residents to plan their day.

The San Sebastian River and Matanzas River are both within walking distance of Maria Sanchez Lake. Boating and fishing are thoroughly enjoyable along these rivers, with dolphins, manatees, and even sea turtles making occasional appearances.

Next to the lake is Eddie Vickers Park. The park has a basketball court, baseball diamond, picnic area, and playground.

Fortresses, The Fountain of Youth, and Museums

St. Augustine offers a long list of exciting attractions for people of all ages. Founded in 1565 by the Spanish, this city comes with a lot of history.

The Castillo de San Marcos National Monument in St. Augustine is the oldest masonry fort in the United States. At over 315 years old, visitors who walk through the fortress walls are taking a trip through history.

Due to a large amount of history in the city, there is no shortage of fun museums to visit. The Lightner Museum, the St. Augustine Pirate & Treasure Museum, Potter’s Wax Museum, and the Spanish Military Hospital Museum are just a few that are located in this magnificent city.

Ponce de Leon’s Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park is said to be the original landing site of the famous Spanish explorer, Ponce de Leon. The lake spans 15 acres, and visitors can take a sip from the spring house, which is thought to be the Fountain of Youth that Ponce de Leon set sail for.

The Perfect Place to Experience Lake Life

Whether you are looking to buy a family home, a full-time retirement residence, waterfront property, or find a shoreline vacation rental, Maria Sanchez Lake is an excellent choice.
