Near State Line

Mashapaug Pond (also known as Mashapaug Lake) is located in the town of Union, just below the Massachusetts and Connecticut state line. The lake is just off Interstate 84 and is less than one hour from Springfield, Massachusetts.

Perfect For Canoeing

Mashapaug Pond is about two miles in length and covers nearly 300 acres of surface area. Its calm waters, perfect for canoeing or kayaking, reach depths of up to 39 feet.

Fishing, Skiing and Sight-Seeing

The lake's wide variety of fish attracts tons of local anglers. Some of the most popular fish caught here are largemouth bass, trout and walleye.

Surrounding the lake is the Bigelow Hollow State Park, where visitors can picnic, hike and even cross-country ski.

Just across the interstate is the scenic Nipmuck State Forest, which is packed with thriving wildlife.
