Neely Henry Reservoir is located in northeast Alabama on the Coosa River. This reservoir extends from the towns of Gadsden to Ohatchee, along state highway 77 near Interstate 59. The closest large city is Birmingham, Alabama, about an hour's drive from the lake area. It is the second reservoir in a chain of six on the Coosa River, which begins with Weiss Lake on the Georgia border. Neely Henry Lake covers more than 11,000 acres with almost 350 miles of shoreline in Etowah, St. Clair, and Calhoun counties. There are also thousands of acres of undeveloped land often used by hikers and wildlife observers.
