Deep Lake - Hughes

Located in Bayfield County, Wisconsin

Tucked away in Hughes, Wisconsin, this 100-acre-sized lake with a maximum depth of 28 feet is a location you must check out! Surrounded by tall trees and marshes, the reflecting waters of this lake will give you a true sense of tranquility.

A little far out, the nearest 24-hour general hospital, Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital-Superior, is about 37 miles from the lake. The closest airport to Deep Lake, Sky Harbor Regional Airport, is about 45 miles away; however, there are numerous smaller airports around the lake. If you’re okay with being a little further out from town, this is the place for you!

Life on the Water

If you enjoy fishing for largemouth bass, northern pike, panfish, and walleye, this is the perfect fishing spot! Those four species are commonly found at Deep Lake. Locals truly enjoy canoeing and kayaking on this lake as well. Boats do not have public access to this lake, though.

Wisconsin has many roadside attractions that are a must-see for their quirkiness. If you take a twenty-minute drive south of the lake, you will pass the World’s Largest Ball of Twine..the best way to explain it is to see it in person. Within 20 miles of Deep Lake are trails and opportunities to swim at the Twin Falls Park and Mays Ledges waterfalls.

Within five minutes of the lake, there are three great dining options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Deep Lake Lodge, The 300 Grill, and the Other Place Bar-N-Grill serve good American food and good drinks for all. Deep Lake Lodge is a comfortable restaurant with seafood galore!

Liquor In The Woods Saloon is a popular bar for locals. The White Winter Winery has various types of wine and a breathtaking view.
