Eaton Reservoir

Location and Access

The Eaton Reservoir is located in Madison County, New York. The history of the reservoir is to supply water to the Erie Canal.

This 272-acre Y-shaped reservoir has a variety of activities that visitors can embark on. Boating is allowed here for fishing, and the public boat launch is located on the east side of the lake.

Fishing Opportunities

With deep and clear waters, fishing is a bit more challenging on this reservoir. The most commonly caught species here are largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, walleye, brown trout, rainbow trout, chain pickerel, pumpkinseed sunfish, bluegill, rock bass, yellow perch, white sucker, golden shiner, and brown bullhead.

Around Eaton Reservoir

The Morrisville Community Club is located on the Northeast side of the reservoir. It has been around for over 100 years and membership includes access to new friendships and the reservoir amenities. Some include swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, canoeing, or simply relaxing.

Hospital

The Oneida Health Hospital is north of the reservoir, approximately 35 minutes away. The Community Memorial Hospital is southeast of the reservoir, approximately 20 minutes away.

Airport

The Syracuse Hancock International Airport is approximately an hour north of Eaton Reservoir. The Ithaca Tompkins International Airport is approximately an hour southwest of the reservoir.

City of Syracuse

Located just under an hour north of the Eaton Reservoir is the city of Syracuse. You can explore the outdoors, dine into the most amazing food scenes, head to the shopping scenes, take in tourists attractions, enjoy museum tours, and more!

City of Albany

Two hours away is the capital of New York. Here, visitors can enjoy a fantastic shopping and dining scene, arts and entertainment buildings, museums and tours, and outdoor adventures.

The top-rated attraction here is the New York State Museum. This museum has a variety of different exhibits and has free admission.

Those with an interest in naval history should go on a tour at the USS Slater DE-776. This restored destroyer gives visitors unique insights as to what it was like to be a sailor back in the day.

"Hamilton" fans should be interested in the nearby Schuyler Mansion, home to Colonel Schuyler and his daughters Peggy, Angelica, and Eliza.
