Beautiful Smith Mountain Lake is nestled in Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains, not far from Roanoke.

This lake is under 45 miles from the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport and under 25 miles from the Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital.

This 20,800-acre reservoir is the second-largest freshwater lake in the state. Smith Mountain Lake offers beautiful, clear water that is perfect for swimming and watersports. Great mountain views and sandy beaches make this lake the place to be!

Smith Mountain Lake is one of Virginia’s premier fisheries. The lake has numerous boat ramps and marinas and has gained national attention for its striped bass fishery. Common fish that can be found here are large and smallmouth bass, striped bass, white and channel catfish, bluegill, and redear sunfish.

Smith Mountain Lake State Park has a 500-foot long sandy beach, a designated swimming area, a dive platform, a concession stand, a visitors' center, picnic areas, well-equipped cabins, primitive campsites, and miles of hiking trails.
