Originally Named Forney Lake

Impounded in 1968 as a fresh water reservoir, Lake Ray Hubbard was originally named Forney Lake. The name was changed in in 1969 after the man who presided over the Dallas Parks and Recreation System board. The Rockwell-Forney Dam continues to oversee water distribution in this large 111 mile shoreline lake.
