Beautiful Waters North of Knoxville

Nestled in the rolling hills of Eastern Tennessee, Norris Lake promises turquoise waters and year-round fun for the whole family.

The lake is a desirable location for vacationers and full-time residents just 30 miles north of Knoxville. The McGhee Tyson Airport, Fort Sanders Medical Center, and the University of Tennessee are all found in the city.

Over 30,000 Acres of Water

Norris Lake extends 56 miles up the Power River and 72 miles up the Clinch River, boasting a surface area of 33,400 acres.

It has 800 miles of shoreline with a backdrop of the Tennessee mountain ranges. The lake has a full list of amenities, including 22 marinas and resorts, three state parks, two wildlife management areas, and multiple boat ramps.

Days on the Lake

There are tons of ways to spend the day on Norris Lake. You are welcome to bring watercraft of all kinds, and if you do not have your own, there are ones to rent at the marinas.

It is a popular location for watersports, including water skiing, wakeboarding, jet skiing, and tubing. For a more relaxed lake day, set out in a kayak or canoe and explore the lake’s secluded coves.

The entire lake except the marina area is open for swimming, so feel free to take a dip when the day gets hot.

Norris Lake has excellent angling opportunities, featuring healthy amounts of large and smallmouth bass, stripers, black bass, brown and rainbow trout, walleye, perch, and crappie.
