About Lake Eufaula

Short Trip from Tulsa and Oklahoma City

Located on the east side of Oklahoma and spanning Haskell, McIntosh, Pittsburg, and Okmulgee counties, Lake Eufaula is the largest in the state.

Eufaula is a flood pool for the Canadian, North Fork Canadian, and Deep Fork rivers.

The cities of Eufaula, Longtown, and Texanna are nestled along the lake.

The Tulsa International Airport is around 80 miles away, and the Haskell Regional Hospital is 30.8 miles away for convenient travel and medical care.

Lake in the Making

Lake Eufaula features sandy beaches, towering cliffs, and rich greenery across 800 miles of shoreline. The emerald waters stretch far and wide, covering 105,500 acres with depths ranging from 12 to 87 feet.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers construction of Lake Eufaula ran from 1956-1964. At its completion, Lyndon B. Johnson came to Oklahoma on September 25, 1964, for the dedication.

Recreational Retreat

With two state parks along its shoreline, Lake Eufaula boasts recreational activities abound. Boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, hunting, golfing, horseback riding, swimming beaches, camping, kayaking, and more are offered.

It is a well-known tournament lake, home to largemouth bass, Kentucky bass, crappie, catfish, sand bass, stripers, sunfish, channel catfish, and blue catfish.

The Cove, North Beach, Dragon Beach, and Sissy Beach are just a couple of cool hangout spots. There are plenty of secluded beaches around the bends of the lake where you can have the sands to yourself.

Annual Festivities

The City of Eufaula is home to the annual event Whole Hawg Days and Poker run. Guests can enjoy a rodeo, mutton bustin', a parade, food vendors, kids' activities, and a hawg cook-off.

At the Eufaula Powwow on Labor Day weekend, Native Americans come together to share traditional songs, dancing, arts, crafts, and food with the community. A variety of tournaments, swimming, and camping are also part of this historical event.

Another annual treat is the Lake Eufaula Sailboat Bucket Run. Sailboat enthusiasts come together to enjoy camaraderie and racing.
